Thousands of food parcels are provided by the Trussell Trust and delivered to clients’ doors by volunteers.

The Trussell Trust provide parcels for single persons, single parents, couples and families.

The parcels provide enough food for three meals a day for three days.

All of the items used are non-perishable cupboard food.

A single person will receive cereal, fruit, rice pudding, puddings (other), custard, soup, meat, fish x2, tinned pasta, baked beans, either jam/honey/peanut butter, tomatoes, vegetables, pasta sauce, potatoes, sugar, tea/coffee, biscuits, milk UHW/powder, juice, pasta, rice plus an extra treat.

Trussell Trust’s network lead for the South East, Kate Dangerfield said: “The food is donated predominately by the public.

“The public can donate through connection points with communities.

“On top of that businesses, schools and other organisations can donate to foodbanks.”

There are two Trussell Trust foodbanks in Buckinghamshire, one based in Chesham named the Chiltern Foodbank and the other being the  Aylesbury Foodbank.

Chiltern Foodbank coordinator, Diane Rutter said: "We use a referral system, so anyone in need of food gets a voucher from one of our referral partners.

"Our main referral partners our Citizens Advice and the council but also we have got about 140 different referral partners including schools, churches and doctor's surgeries.

"They will issue an electronic voucher and we pick it up and prepare a food parcel which our volunteer then delivers to the clients at home."
