Drivers in East Lancashire are paying nearly 10p more per litre of fuel compared to surrounding towns and cities.
The cheapest petrol in Blackburn we could find will set drivers back 146.7p per litre while in Preston, petrol is available for 137.7p.
In Blackburn, the cheapest place to fill up according to price comparison site PetrolPrices was Asda at 146.7p per litre while in Preston, Asda oi Blackpool Road is charging drivers 137.7p at the pump.
When it comes to diesel, there is not quite as big of a difference with the cheapest in Blackburn, again at Asda, costing 167.7p per litre while in Preston, it is costing 159.7p per litre, again at Asda.
There are five petrol stations in Preston where you can fill up for less than £1.40 a litre, with motorists having 20 petrol stations they can visit in a five-mile radius before they will be paying the cheapest price on offer in Blackburn.
In Accrington, the cheapest price for petrol is at Asda where it will set you back 145.7p per litre.
The cheapest diesel is also at Asda, costing 168.7 per litre, more expensive than in Blackburn.
Petrol is cheaper elsewhere in East Lancashire but still remains pricier than in other parts of the county.
In Darwen, petrol will set a driver back a minimum of 147.9p per litre while diesel is costing motorists 169.9p per litre, both at Texaco on Bolton Road.
Petrol in Burnley currently costs 145.9p at Tesco Extra, cheaper than Blackburn but dearer than in Accrington.
Diesel at Asda in Burnley is costing 167.7p, again, cheaper than Accrington but the same price as in Blackburn.
Prices drop considerably as you approach the Greater Manchester border, with Haslingden residents paying just 139.9p per litre of petrol at Tesco.
When it comes to diesel, the cheapest is at BP Rossendale, the Star Garage, where is it costing 166.9p.
The average price of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts on Monday was 148.8p, figures from data company Experian show.
That was up from 148.4p a week earlier but remains considerably lower than the record high of 191.5p in July 2022.

AA fuel price spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “After a fall of close to 43p a litre since the summer record, drivers feared that a rebound in petrol prices would eventually happen.
“So far, pump price averages have risen only slightly.
“But today’s price is only 0.9p below the average price at the start of the Ukraine war on February 24 when pump prices surged.”
Diesel averaged 170.4p a litre on Monday, having fallen to 170.3p on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
It hit a record of 199.1p last July.
