A man from Blackburn says he, and hundreds of other people, witnessed a miracle after finding the inscription of "Allah" in Arabic(اللّٰه‎ ) on a piece of fruit for a second time.

Earlier this month Hafiz Abdul Basit, and around 500 other people including Blackburn councillors, were attending his father’s remembrance event on the second anniversary of his death.

Mr Basit said he and those in attendance were “amazed and blessed” to see the word ‘Allah’ inscribed on a piece of kiwi fruit that was intended to be served to them at Madina Mosque on Oak Street.

This is the second consecutive year that a piece of "miracle fruit" is said to have been found and Mr Basit said the same inscription was found inside a sliced piece of Sharon fruit at last year’s remembrance event.

He said: “This is a blessing from the Almighty and such miracles are rare worldwide.

“Family and guests were grateful for this grateful for this reoccurrence as it reinforced their faith, especially as it took place on the anniversary of his passing.

“This miracle has left the community and guests speechless.”

Mr Basit said his father Haji Muhammad Tariq Hussain, who died in 2021, was a well-respected member of the community known for his sense of duty, humility and for being a much-loved businessman in Blackburn.

He said: “Since the 1970s, Haji Muhammad Tariq has served the community with great respect.

“He was a community-bound and humble person who was a much-loved Blackburn businessman.

“He was a philanthropic individual who placed the needs of others before his own, displaying kindness, generosity, and wisdom.

“His passing has been a significant loss for his family and the entire community, who still mourn his loss.”
