A Great Harwood pub is set to reopen today (January 9) and the new owners want to transform it into a community space.

Elizabeth Adshead is the new landlady of The Park Hotel, in Harwood Lane, and will run it with her husband Stuart and son Benjamin.

The pub, which closed in September, is set to reopen at 4pm and Elizabeth, who used to run the Pendle Witch in Sabden, said she can’t wait to welcome customers new and old.

She said: “We were looking for a new pub to take over as we previously ran the Pendle Witch in Sabden.

“When we came here we just fell in love with the pub. It is just a lovely place with a lovely feel to it.

“The décor is modern without being over the top, it has such a cosy environment.

“Hopefully, we can turn it into a good community pub and extend a warm welcome.”

Elizabeth said she plans to reintroduce live music and other events at the pub.

She said: “We are hoping to restart some events and schemes, such as the charity dog walk that used to run here.

“We will also reintroduce quiz and live music nights. We have our first live music act booked for January 27.”

Stuart said the community has been behind them since the couple made the announcement on Facebook.

He said: “We value the support we have seen in the community.

“The post on Facebook has received hundreds of likes and comments.

“Seeing the level of support has been such a morale boost.”

Stuart said they can’t wait to open today 

He said:  “We are very much looking forward to opening. 

“Once we close the doors and wave customers goodbye on Monday we will have a great sleep as we have put so much work into reopening.”
