A makeup artist has taken the internet by storm after a video of her ‘transforming’ the Grinch went viral.

Holly Murray, from Accrington, posted the video to social media platform TikTok and it has since amassed more than 27.3 million views.

In the video she can be seen applying green paint, contact lenses, while reciting lines from the Dr Seuss classic, How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Holly told The Lancashire Telegraph that the impressive look took 23-hours to complete as she made her own face and dental prosthetics.

It was also completed on a budget and the entire look cost less than £50 to purchase.

Despite the long hours, Holly said her transformation into the Dr Seuss character was one of her favourite looks so far, even if the mum-of-two did have to face the school run with green paint behind her ears.

She said: “I am so proud of this look. It’s definitely in my top three.

“I am still glowing green. I have green paint behind my ears and in my armpits.

“My kids got to see the finished look and stayed up to see it. My kids were asking me to say some of his lines. I had to remind them that I look like him but we don’t sound the same.”

Holly said she “can’t believe” how well the video has been received on social media.

She said: “I am chuffed to bits that it has been so well received on social media.

“I was a bit nervous to post because it took so long and wasn’t sure how people would react to it.”

Holly Murray started her TikTok account at the start of lockdown but only began to take it seriously last July.

She has since amassed 7.9m followers on the app, who are eager to see what she will transform herself into next.

Beetlejuice, Pennywise and Austin Powers are just some of the incredible and realistic characters she has been before.

Holly’s transformation into Suicide Squad’s Enchantress was the first of her videos to hit one million views, but her Annabelle video is what really motivated Holly to keep pursuing this as a career.

Holly says she was recently named as one of TikTok’s best breakthrough artists of the year.

She said: “TikTok compiled a list of creators to look out for in 2023 and I featured. I was so chuffed, it makes all the hard work worth it.”
