Teachers and pupils at Blackburn Central High School were recognised for their hard work and dedication and were presented with The Together Award at a recent ceremony.
The annual ceremony of the BBC Radio Lancashire Make A Difference Awards took place over the weekend (Saturday, December 3) where eight of the 32 finalists were announced.
The Together Award is awarded to an individual or group of people who create change by breaking down barriers and bringing different people together for a cause.
Headteacher Shanaz Hussain said: "The Together Award highlights the tremendous work that everyone in our school family carries out day after day.
“The award recognises the relentless desire of all of our BCHS family to create harmony, tolerance and understanding by breaking down barriers and bringing together people from different walks of life.
“This award along with the School of Sanctuary Status, The Renee Black Award, The Commitment to the Halo Code, The Rainbow Flag Award, all celebrate and recognise the dedication of those staff who go above and to support our children in the classroom and beyond.
“In addition, our record-breaking GCSE results further highlight the dedication and commitment of all staff to improve outcomes for all our children. We are delighted to accept the award on behalf of everyone at BCHS.”
The BBC Radio Lancashire Make a Difference Awards recognise unsung heroes from across the county, and spotlights individuals and groups that work tirelessly within the community.
Chris Burns, Head of Audio and Digital for BBC England said: “We are delighted to announce the winners of these wonderful awards, which celebrate those individuals who have gone above and beyond, what most of us expect from people.
“In a world where the news can often be quite bleak, it is a way of showing off the best of people.”
