A dog has been killed after a minor crash on the M65.

At around 11.15am today (Wednesday, November 16), police received a report of a crash on the motorway.

A spoeksperson for the police said the incident was a ‘damage only collision’ which happened on junction 10 of the M65.

One person on Facebook wrote: "Sadly a black dog has lost its life on the M65. Near to the exit onto Gannow Top."

North West National Highways confirmed the dog was found behind a vehicle on the hard shoulder.

A spokesperson for NW National Highways said: "Lancashire Constabulary are contacting the owner of the dog, which was found behind a vehicle on the hard shoulder."
