Three parks in a town could see an £840,000 investment as part of a town deal worth £25 million.
Park users are being asked to have their say on proposals for Marsden, Victoria and Walverden Parks in Nelson, as part of the Healthy Town Plan.
This is one of eight projects in the Nelson Town Deal and includes funding of £250,000 from Nelson Town Council.
The Nelson Town Deal board is overseeing an exciting 10-year plan to support transformation in the town with wider benefits for the whole of Pendle.
A total of £25 million investment has been earmarked from the Government’s new Towns Fund for Nelson.
Leader of Pendle Borough Council, Cllr Nadeem Ahmed said: “The Healthy Town project is designed to help address poor health and wellbeing in Nelson by making it easier for people of all ages to enjoy a more active lifestyle in three popular parks.
“We need people’s views on plans so that we can move forward quickly when we get the green light from the Government’s Towns Fund for £590,000.
“It’s crucial that these parks provide the maximum benefit to our community.
“The only way we can do that is by hearing what people would like to see included in the plans.”
The consultation events are at taking place at Marsden Old Hall, Walton Lane, on Saturday, November 12, from 9.30am until 12.30pm. An event was also held on November 9.
For the Walverden Park proposals, an event will take place today (November 10) from 9.30am until 12.30pm at the Unity Wellbeing Centre, Vernon Street.
Another event will take place at the Walverden Park playground on Brunswick Street on Saturday between 1pm and 4pm.
The events for Victoria Park will be held at the Pavilion Café at the park on Saturday, November 19, between 10am and 1pm and Monday, November 21, between 12.30pm and 4pm.
