A MAN forced entry into a neighbour’s flat and put him in fear of violence.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jordan Jones stood over the shocked victim and said he was going to kill him.

Jones, 25, of Eastgate, Accrington, pleaded guilty to assaulting Reece Goldie and damaging a door belonging to him. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Charges of racially aggravated assault, criminal damage and threats to kill were withdrawn.

Scott Parker, prosecuting, said Jones had used language during the incident which would have been deemed racist if Mr Goldie had not been a white European.

He said Mr Goldie lived in a flat in the same complex as the defendant. He was sat at home listening to music and playing an online game with a friend. He heard a number of loud bangs and when he switched his music off heard another.

He realised his front door was being broken down and then saw the defendant walk into his flat.

He came into the room and was shouted racist abuse as he stood over the aggrieved.

“Mr Goldie was shaken and was unsure what was going to happen,” said Mr Parker. “He feared he was going to be assaulted. The defendant stood over him and said he was going to kill him.”

He said Mr Goldie said he was sorry on numerous occasions and after 30 or 40 seconds walked out saying as he left, “Get your door fixed.”

Mr Goldie was on the phone to the police when Jones returned and said he had better not be calling the police.

“He ended the call and said it was his mum,” said Mr Parker. “The police called back shortly after and then attended.”

Gareth Price, defending, said his client had no previous convictions.

“He has lived at his current address for six months and there have been no other issues,” said Mr Price.

“He believes there have been things said by other residents who have been laughing at him and this is the culmination of that behaviour.”
