A new fish and chip shop is opening in Hyndburn as four brothers fulfil their "lifelong dream of owning a chippy".

Rish ‘n’ Chips will be open on Monday, October 31 on 15-17 High Street.

Hussain Rashid and his three brothers Mahmoon, Haroon, and Mahfooz have owned the Balti House restaurant in Rishton for 21 years as well as Zazz takeaway on Columbia Way, Blackburn.

The owner of the aptly named Rish ‘n’ Chips shared that he has worked in hospitality for more than 20 years and wanted to embark on a new business venture with a fish and chip shop.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Hussain said: “Sharing the same passion for food across all stores and helping the community and giving back is what is more important to us.

"Our experience has taught us how to cook from the heart and for the soul, so we want to bring this to Rish ‘n’ Chips.

“It’s taken us a long time to do this but we wanted to find the right place to do it which we have through the help of the manager Jessica who’s hired a great team of around five full-time and part-time staff.”

Jessica, who has had previous experience working in a chip shop, has known Hussain for most of his life as her dad was a regular customer at the Balti House.

Hussain is focused on providing the highest quality of food so says the menu will include cod and haddock which has been MSC-certified sustainable fish products.

He added: “We’ve got good fish, chips and potatoes because over the years we’ve learned about having the best food, service, and communication to keep customers happy.”

It’s always been the brothers’ dream to open a fish and chip shop and they’re thrilled that it’s finally become a reality.

Hussain said: “I’ve always loved fish and chips. Believe it or not, 25 years ago I said, ‘I’m going to open a chippy one day’. And my father, God bless his soul, he loved fish and chips as well, so it was just a personal dream to open one up.

“So, we just wanted to open and provide a good outlet for the food and I think we have done this with Rish ‘n’ Chips.”

Whilst the shop isn’t officially open yet, they’ve had two trial days so locals can get a taste of what’s to come and the staff can start preparing to run the shop.

The shop has already received reviews raving about how tasty the food is. One person even said the fish is as tasty as Nellies – an old beloved chip shop in Rishton.
