An East Lancashire woman, who lost all of her jobs in the pandemic, is now living the dream as a Netflix star.

Polly Brindle, originally from Barnoldswick but now based in the Orange County area of California, is an estate agent in Netflix series Selling the OC.

In the Selling Sunset spin-off, a fresh set of estate agents (realtors in the US) square off, competing to establish themselves in the luxury home market on the Orange County coast of America.

Far from your average homes, Polly specialises in selling luxurious properties for The Oppenheim Group, the dominant estate agency in the Hollywood Hills.

Polly said the last few years have been a “whirlwind”, and she was scouted for the show by Jason Oppenheim, owner of The Oppenheim Group.

She said: “I had been living in LA for nine years modelling, acting, waitressing, hustling.

“During the pandemic I lost all three of my jobs overnight.

“Real estate had been on my radar for a while but I hadn’t had the time to be able to study and obtain my license, so I used lockdown to knuckle down and re-train in a more stable career.

“I decided to relocate down to Orange County where the properties are definitely in the ‘luxury’ bracket and the area is much cleaner and safer than Los Angeles.

“I had just started my training course and I saw that The Oppenheim Group was opening a second office five minutes away from my apartment, so I cold emailed the owner, Jason Oppenheim, and he was luckily in town the next day and agreed to meet me.

“I didn’t know they were planning to do another show until a few weeks later, when Jason commented that I needed to change my Instagram from private to public as he was telling production about me.

“After a couple of meetings with them I found out I had been cast!

The former FisherMore High School student hopes to buy a house in northern England in the future.

She said: “Hopefully I will be able to buy a place up North in the future, but for the moment my life and business is in OC so never say never, but I don’t see myself permanently moving back.”

Polly’s northern accent stands out from the American ones on the show and the former model said she is commonly misunderstood in the States.

She said: “The northern accent is less pronounced than when I was a teen but for sure is still there, it’s a daily occurrence that someone doesn’t understand what I’m saying over here still.

“I try to get back home as often as I can to see friends and family, it ends up being once or twice a year.

"I always have the best time catching up with everyone when I am back and am constantly FaceTiming my sister and nephews, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on too much.”

While she many be hundreds of miles from home, Polly still represents her home county through her outfit choices on the show.

The outfit she wears in Selling the OC's banner was designed by Burnley fashion designer Rene K.

Polly said: “I have had so many messages about the blue jumpsuit in the Netflix picture advertising Selling The OC.

“I have a few other fun outfits from her too and I love to support a local, female-owned small business.

“I always get stopped and asked about who I’m wearing when I’m in Rene K.”

Owner of Rene K, Carrie-Ann Kay, said: “It’s great to see a local Lancashire lass on an international programme.

“I found her quirky, funny and edgy, she really makes the show what it is.

“Her sister came with her for the fitting and with her being a local girl we instantly clicked over champagne at a local restaurant before her showroom fitting.

“When we created the blue jumpsuit Polly wore on the Netflix banner, she was actually still in America so she sent her measurements via email and when she came for the fitting we tweaked and measured her for the sparkle ‘Jade’ dress that she wore for her press interviews.”
