A Lancashire mental health and well-being charity is bringing back a popular event which allows people to raise funds and to spread festive cheer.

Lancashire Mind is excited to host 'Mental Elf' runs on December 4 at Witton Park in Blackburn.

The event brings people together in support of better mental health to have fun, connect, be active and give back.

This year, the charity is arranging two brand new distances, with a 2km 'Mini Elf' and 10km 'Mega Elf' route, as well as the return of their famous 5km Mental Elf route.

There will also be surprise festive boosts at every kilometre and free family entertainment and activities, including festive story-telling, face-painting and interactive well-being workshops.

The Mini Elf run is for ages 15 and under and will start at 10.45am, the all-ages run will start at 11.45am and the 10km run - for ages 16 and over - will start at 12pm.

Each runner or walker will receive a bespoke medal with a new design, a goody bag and a fundraising pack.

A charity spokesperson has said most importantly walkers and runners will receive "that feel-good feeling of knowing you are supporting your local Mental Health charity".

They added: "Lancashire Mind's flagship fundraising event is just a couple of months away.

"This wonderful event for all the community raises vital awareness and funds as well as bringing people across Lancashire together.

"We are looking for businesses and/or individuals who can provide festive or wellbeing-themed entertainment/activities.

"If you would be willing to support this well-established and popular event, in return for a number of marketing opportunities please get in touch with emmabateson@lancashiremind.org.uk."

"Every ticket sale and fundraising donation will generate vital funds and enable Lancashire Mind to support young people and adults across the county."

Emma Bateson Fundraising and Communications Lead said: "Mental Elf is an event for the whole family.

"It's a fun, inclusive, affordable and everyone is welcome no matter what their fitness level is.

"Our Lancashire Mind elves come from all backgrounds but share a common goal of wanting to improve mental wellbeing for all in Lancashire.

"You can choose to run or walk, you can bring your dog to take part, there are three different distances to choose from and we will be providing wellbeing boosts at every km.

"Mental health conditions can affect anyone at any time so it's important we come together in support of this.

"As a charity we have seen the impact of the cost of living on our fundraising income at a time when people are more likely to need the services and support we provide.

"In choosing to take part in Mental Elf or cheering on our participants you are helping us to raise vital awareness and funds.

"All the funds raised are spent on improving mental health for those living and working in Lancashire."
