The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen visited an all-new specialist residential home last week, giving his seal of approval as he cut the ribbon.

Suleman Khonat attended White Pearl House, which recently opened in Blackburn, to have a look at the facilities the home has on offer for the individuals who will use the service.

Cllr Khonat was part of the original planning committee in 2019 when an application was granted to White Pearl Care, established in 2021, to turn a house in Blackburn into a specialist residential home for male adults with mental health problems and Autism.

The residential facility was developed exclusively for the care of those who have moderate to severe autism with the bespoke environment provided enabling carers to optimise results based on individual needs.

The Mayor was pleased to witness the development of the business, owned and managed locally, and how the plans for future growth have been laid out for even more success.

The home is regulated by the Quality Care Commission which was registered during the pandemic and employs 20 staff from the surrounding area who are specifically trained in dealing with complex needs of residents.

With a capacity to help five men aged 18 to 65, the business is now ready to accept people and White Pearl Care said they hope they can take the pressure off the already stretched NHS System.

The home provides a nurturing and therapeutic approach to enriching the lives of the people it cares for.

White Pearl Care member of staff Tracey Rawlings said: "There has been a lot of work gone in over the past few months to differentiate the service from others, we have a wonderful building with bespoke features that will help to make everyone feel safe and relaxed.

"We cannot wait to see the residents and our futures as a care service develop."
