An East Lancashire charity has shared the latest updates as it has built hundreds of homes for families across the world who have fallen victim to natural disasters.

Blackburn’s Benefit Mankind, an international aid relief and development organisation, has been supporting the less fortunate by helping hundreds who have lost their homes due to floods, earthquakes and more.

Recent projects include building new villages in Malawi and Indonesia as well as supporting the millions affected by the recent devastating floods in Pakistan.

Dr Mulla, chief executive of Benefit Mankind, recently visited the charity's sites in Indonesia and Malawi.

He said: “Natural disasters in Indonesia caused thousands of families to be without homes and at the same time in Malawi, poverty struck families living in temporary mud huts required bricked homes.

“With the generous support from our donors, we have built new villages to give these families a new start in life, now we aim to educate and empower the families so they can become self-sufficient.

“I would like to thank our donors, partners and the respected governments for making this vision possible.”

The charity has even shared drone footage of their building efforts and many homes they have helped to create.

The charity has built more than 350 homes in Indonesia and more than 400 homes in Malawi.

Currently an appeal has been launched to help homeless families in Pakistan that have been affected by flooding.

Working with Blackburn Rovers, the charity is also working on tackling domestic violence, cancer awareness and supporting families struggling with the cost of living crisis.

During the winter months plans have been made to take academy players to help the homeless in our local communities.

The partnership with Rovers has also extended internationally where the charity delivers kits to various poverty struck countries.
