An East Lancashire pub is set to reopen later this month after undergoing a £400,000 refurbishment –  and it will have a different name and new look.

The Brickworks, in Hyndburn Road, Accrington, which has now been renamed The Acorn, closed its doors at the end of September so work could begin to transform the inside and outside of the venue.

It is set to reopen on October 24 bringing a new look and a modern take on the traditional community pub.

It will create 20 new jobs for the area.

As well as a new beer garden, punters can also look forward to new furnishings, televisions and a pool area.

Customers should also keep their eyes open for a new food menu.

Marston’s, the brewery which owns the pub, said: “The new look will include new soft furnishings, large screen TVs for live sports (Sky and BT) both inside and out, darts and pool areas, a new beer garden and social area, as well as the introduction of a new menu with all the pub classics.

“General manager Hannah Collins, who has been with Marston’s for more than seven years, returns to the pub and has doubled the team’s size in preparation for the new beginning.

“The pub has a team of 15 already and the refresh will be creating up to a further 20 jobs in the area following the investment.”

The pub has been posting refurbishment updates to their Facebook page.

Hannah said: “Some of you may have heard the rumours we are closing for a refurbishment.

“If you've driven by recently you can see outside work has already begun.

“Obviously, we're going to be throw a weekend of activities to celebrate reopening.

“We've got so many activities planned throughout the week and weekend and can't wait to flood your feeds with all these amazing plans.”
