A television show that was filmed in an East Lancashire bridal boutique has won a major award.
Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire, which was filmed at Ava Rose Hamilton Boutique in Colne, has won the Royal Television Society’s (RTS) Yorkshire Centre award for best factual entertainment show.
Owner Paula Chappell said the team were “beaming with joy” after winning.
She said: “We are thrilled, we have been nominated for the award twice and not won so it’s third time lucky.
“I don’t know why we won this time around, I think the seasons got stronger as they went along."
“I’ve been in bridal for over 30 years and it’s great to show viewers what actually goes on in a bridal boutique.
“There are so many high emotions and feelings contained in that one dress purchase.
"The bride remembers every fine detail about that dress – it’s always a magical moment when they say 'yes'"
Paula said the award gave staff at the boutique a much needed "boost" after navigating a tough pandemic.
She said: “It’s mind-blowing to have received the award after everything we’ve been through
“Almost every business was on its knees and to be given this accolade is just so comforting.
“We filmed series three during Covid and we had so many restrictions in the boutique which made it more difficult to film and meant longer hours shooting
"Producers, cast and staff pulled it out of the bag despite the difficulties.
“It was a totally different style of filming but we got through it and the finished product looked great on screen.”
While details about series four are yet to be confirmed, Paula said she is "hopeful" and "in talks” with TLC and True North Productions about filming another series next year.
Fashion expert and the show’s presenter, Gok Wan, was also delighted to have won.
He said: “On October 7 we won an RTS for Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire in the best factual entertainment category.
“I am beyond proud of the team for working so hard on this show.
“The award is next to our executive producer’s bed after what looks like a wonderful night of accepting, notice the ibuprofen and water.”
Currently, there are three seasons of Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire which aired between 2019-2021.
The show sees Gok and staff at the Primet Bridge shop help women find their dream wedding dress.
The show often features women with heart breaking, inspirational or funny stories.
One woman who found her dream dress at the Colne boutique was Emily, who almost lost her leg in a horrific lorry accident.
In the episode, which aired in 2021, the Manchester bride-to-be went on the hunt for a new dress and, more importantly, the confidence to walk down the aisle.

Speaking with super stylist Gok Wan, Emily candidly describes the long road to recovery that she has been on.
“I got run over by a lorry, I almost lost my leg,” she said,
“I had to learn to walk again and then from there it took me just about over a year to heal. I am still recovering... I’ve still got a bit more to do.”
The boutique also opened its doors to some celebrities, including Kerry Katona, who is set to walk down the aisle for the fourth time with Ryan Mahoney.
