BLACKBURN'S King George's Hall will host a Remembrance Concert next month after a two year break for coronavirus.

It will take place on Monday November 14 from 7 to 9pm.

It is being organised by former Blackburn with Darwen Council Mayor Pat McFall, who retired as a councillor in April this year, and Blackburn with Darwen’s Mayor’s office.

Bolton Music Service, which provides the school music service for the borough, are attending along with primary schools from Blackburn and Darwen who will be singing war time melodies.

Students from Westholme School are performing a drama and dance show and Darwen Vale High School pupils will also be performing on the night too.

The People’s Choir is also joining this year.

The evening will also be supported by the Salvation Army and their music director Eric Millest.

The Service of Remembrance will be conducted by the Very Rev Dean of Blackburn Peter Howell Jones, followed by a performance by guest soprano Rachel Little before an old-fashioned sing-a-long.

There will be a homage to the late Queen Elizabeth II before the grand finale and a collection for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Mrs McFall, who organised the original Remembrance Concert at the venue in 2018 for the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War,when she was borough mayor, said: “After a two year break due to the pandemic, we are delighted the Remembrance Concert is back bigger and better than ever.”

Tickets are £4 for adults and £1 for children and will be available from King George’s Hall from October 12.
