New research has revealed that one area of Lancashire has some of the cheapest parking in the UK.

Preston has been revealed as the second cheapest city for parking in the UK, costing on average just £1.20 for a one hour stay.

A recent study conducted by vehicle finance website, Moneybarn, analysed the average cost for a one-hour stay in each UK city, to reveal the cheapest cities for parking.

The study also analysed the number of NCP parking spaces vs licensed cars to reveal the worst areas for parking in the UK.

The city with the cheapest parking in the country is Chelmsford, where a stay of one hour will cost you on average just £1. This is £6.78 cheaper than the most expensive city in the study.

The second cheapest city to park in is Preston, where the average one-hour stay will set you back £1.20. Preston is the largest urban area in Lancashire, and serves as an important transport hub for the region, connecting many local transport services to national routes.

Edinburgh is the most expensive UK city to park in, with a one-hour stay costing you a whopping £7.78 on average.

Manchester ranks first as the city has the best parking provisions in the country with 37.77 parking spaces per 1,000 registered cars.

Chester ranks as the worst city in the UK for parking spaces available, with just 0.39 spaces per 1,000 cars.
