Work at a new housing development has got underway at a brownfield site in East Lancashire.

Housing developer Prospect Homes has begun its latest development, Mitton Grange, off Mitton Road in Whalley.

The 50-home development, which is regenerating brownfield land, is the first site where Prospect Homes will be selling a new range of house styles and the launch has been met with lots of interest.

Each house type at Mitton Grange has three or four bedrooms and an “elevational style” which we will now be used throughout future Prospect sites.

Sam Williams, head of sales at Prospect Homes, said: “The three and four-bedroom homes at Mitton Grange are our new era of homes.

“We have listened to what buyers want from homes post-lockdowns and are so pleased that we are finally able to see them come to fruition.

“Some house styles feature front bay windows that will naturally open up the living space and provide more natural light into the homes.

“Six out of the nine house types have been designed to achieve accessible and adaptable living, meaning they incorporate features that make it suitable for a wide range of occupants, including older people, those with reduced mobility and some wheelchair users.

“This has been done by allowing larger space within bedrooms, downstairs cloakrooms and kitchens.”

For the first time four house styles, The Pattersley, The Mawdsley, The Keighley and The Edmonton all include a designated space for a home office.

Mr Williams added: “More buyers are now continuing to work from home on a permanent or a part-time basis so having this extra room, that doesn’t detract from bedroom space, is a huge selling point.

“Or if it’s not needed for a home office, we’ve already had visitors say it would be ideal for a home cinema room or children’s playroom.”

There is just one home left on release presently, a four-bedroom detached Keighley priced at £510,000.

Offering a rural location and surrounded by picturesque Lancashire countryside, Mitton Grange is within walking distance of Whalley village that is known for its independent shops and community spirit.

For families, there are a number of schools close by including Whalley Primary School and Whalley Range High School.

The housebuilder behind the development, Prospect Homes, is part of the Riverside Group and all profits from sales of new homes are given back to the parent company to invest in social value initiatives and communities across the UK.
