This dog had more sense than a drunk driver who was stopped by road traffic officers.

Police were left tending to the well behaved dog who decided it was best to just stay put after the real driver decided to make a run for it.

Lancashire Road Traffic officers posted this image of the dog in the drivers seat in Morecambe.

The vehicle had been stopped but the driver attempted to evade capture but was later detained alongside another person.

Lancashire Road Traffic police posted: "Officers had to ‘paws’ for thought with this driver last week in Morecambe.

"The real driver had run off following a pursuit which he felt was a bit ‘ruff’. Two detained and driver arrested for drunk driving."

The dog was taken home.

Elsewhere, The driver of this Nissan Qashqai was stopped in North Road, Preston, by after he decided to ignore a red light. 

The driver failed a roadside drug test for cannabis and was arrested. Officers said in custody he also failed to provide a sample of blood.
