A Lancashire woman, who once appeared on the X Factor, is to appear on dating show Beauty and the Geek UK.

Beauty Charlotte Lily, from Preston, will be trying to find love with self-proclaimed ‘geeks’ in the Discovery + reboot which airs Sunday (September 25).

Charlotte, who appeared on the X Factor in 2018 and made it to the six chair challenge, said she was surprised to be accepted onto the show.

The 24-year-old said: “I don’t consider myself a model and didn’t think I would get on the show – but the day after applying I got a text asking me to take part in an audition.

“The rest is history.”

Charlotte, who has appeared on a variety of other shows including Million Pound Motorhomes, Builds on Wheels, Moneybags, and This Morning, said she has asked to appear on many other dating shows before Beauty and the Geek.

She said: “Beauty and the Geek isn’t ‘prancing around in bikinis’ it’s about getting to know someone for who they truly are.

“I genuinely wanted to find love.”

Charlotte said it was a culture shock to leave the Lancashire countryside in order to live in a busy city.

She said: “With Beauty and the Geek I moved to London and it was just a different way of living.

“I am used to getting up at 5am and walking my dogs, being surrounded by the Lancashire countryside.

“Instead of getting up and putting my wellies on, I had to put on a full face of makeup and a dress.”

Charlotte said she has a lot of “dating horror stories” and says the show has changed her perspective on dating.

She said: “I went on the show thinking I could meet someone I could take home to mum.

“Before I was going on a date a week just because I fancied their picture on Tinder.

“On the show I was treated so nicely by the geeks. You could go out in a bin bag and they would tell you how beautiful you looked.

“It’s shown me what I want from a guy and how I want them to treat me. It’s what’s on the inside that counts.”

In the first episode, which is available to watch today, Charlotte meets a man from Blackpool who likes to cosplay, the practice of dressing up as a character from a film, book, or video game.

She said: “You will see me meeting JB in the first episode who likes to dress up as superheroes.

“I can’t tell you if I recouple with another geek or not – you will have to find out on Sunday.”

Charlotte says it was “surreal” to meet hosts Mollie King and Matt Edmondson.

She said: “They were so involved.

“If you told them you liked a certain geek they would try and make the coupling up happen.

“Matt would sit with us and play games with us and Mollie just looks so perfect.”

If the series is renewed for a second series Charlotte urges anyone to apply.

She said: “If there is a series two – apply.

“I spend my life in wellies and baggy clothes and I was accepted.

“You never know what will happen and who you will meet”.

Beauty and the Geek will stream on Discovery+ UK from Sunday, September 25.
