A kitchen company once embroiled in a row with nearby residents over disturbing noises coming from its factory machines has fallen into administration.
Lanzet Interiors, in Darwen, went into administration on September 2, with James Saunders and Steven Muncaster both of Kroll Advisory Ltd, The Chancery, Spring Gardens, Manchester, appointed as joint administrators.
It is believed the premises, in Primrose Mill on Ratcliffe Street, has been locked up, with signs taken down and cameras installed at various points around the building.
The reason for the company’s demise is not yet clear, although bosses at Lanzet have been contacted for a statement.
At the beginning of the year, the kitchen installation company came under fire as residents living close to its headquarters complained they were being subjected to horrendous sounds.
Lanzet said it was doing all it could to minimise the noise from some of its machines and bosses confirmed they were in discussions with the council and residents about the issues with their biomass boiler and compressor, which people living nearby said made a continuous droning noise, which often went on throughout the night.
At the time, one resident, Ste Dugdale, said the noise coming from the machine was terribly loud and was sometimes left on 24 hours a day.
Speaking in January, Mr Dugdale said: "They left the machine on all Christmas. They stopped work and just left it while the whole place was shut.
"At night it can be horrendous sometimes.
"It bangs like a heartbeat but really loud. It seems to get worse when the weather does.
"The residents around this monster need something doing. It really is an affront to everyone within its radius and it's been left on over the festive period whilst the factory has been closed.
"The council are well aware of the residents' concerns too. I don't even think they have planning permission for whatever is making the noise."
A spokesperson for Lanzet said the machines had only been left on overnight on a couple of occasions, by mistake, and they were in the process of taking out all the extraction inside the building and investing in noise-reducing material.
Regeneration boss at Blackburn with Darwen Council, Councillor Phil Riley, said the company did effectively have planning permission but he would be sending an enforcement officer out to take a look.
He said: "We are going to send our enforcement officer out and check they are in accord with the conditions about noise and not causing problems for the neighbours."
In August 2019, Barry Casement took over as director of Lanzet after Tyrone Grimes and Joseph MacDonald resigned.
According to official Companies House documents, Lanzet Interiors remained a dormant company from 2019 up until its recent demise.
