The hedging plants are due for arrival tomorrow, so the Park Keepers will be planting the hedge from 10am this Saturday (19th April).
Apologies for the short notice, but the sooner the plants go in, the more chance they'll have of surviving.
The hedging plants are being paid for by the residents of Milbrook Court, whose gardens back on to the park and by the Friends of Ball Grove.
The residents asked for a hedge to be planted there as an additional security measure and the Friends group thought it best to plant a mixed native hedge to provide food and shelter for insects and birds.
We need volunteers to come on Saturday to help plant the hedge, so we can get the job done on the day.
Work will involve removing the turf, digging over the soil and putting in the plants. The work will be at a nice gentle pace and no experience is necessary. All tools will be provided.
Anyone who enjoys working outside in the fresh air and/or would like to learn about the techniques and benefits of native hedgerow planting should come along.
