VANDALS torched a 12-feet high pile of wood at a demolition site in Hannah Street, Darwen, early this morning.
The wood had been cleared from several houses in the area that are due to be demolished to make way for the proposed new Darwen Academy.
Fire crews said the "extremely large" pile of wood was ignited at around 2.15am.
