A RETIRED machine operator from Blackburn died after artery surgery, an inquest heard.

Ann Scholes, 63, of Monmouth Road, was admitted to the Royal Blackburn Hospital on March 20 after feeling unwell and complaining of leg and foot pain.

Surgery was carried out, after which Mrs Scholes' blood pressure dropped and she died on April 4.

Coroner Michael Singleton recorded the cause of death as severe internal bleeding following femoral artery angioplasty.

He adjourned the inquest until July 23 at Blackburn Coroners Court.
