A DARWEN-born rock star who has toured with rock giants Led Zepplin and Jefferson Airplane is returning to the town next month to play a gig.

Guitarist Bryn Haworth grew up in Darwen before moving to London in the late 60s.

In the early 70s he moved to California and toured extensively with the legendary bands.

And he has also played as a session musician with Gerry Rafferty, Chris De Burgh and Sir Cliff Richard.

He says he looking forward to playing in Darwen again - he is down to play a rock gospel concert at a local church.

Bryn who now lives on the Sussex Downs said: "I think about Darwen often.

"My stepmother still lives in the town and she keeps me up to date on what's happening.

"I haven't much time available this visit but it's my intention to return again in the summer for an extended period.

"There are many places in my memories of Darwen that I'd like to see again."

Since moving back to the UK in 1974 Bryn now focuses his talents on a mixture of blues and gospel music.

He said: "I'll be bringing 2 or 3 different guitars to the concert to play some new songs and some old favourites."
