A 12 year-old boy was kicked and punched to the ground as he was mugged for his mobile phone.
The youngster was walking along Belvedere Road at 5.20pm on Saturday when he was approached by two teenage boys who asked him the time, but as he went to check it on his mobile the boys tried to grab it.
The 12 year-old ran off down Leyland Road but was chased by the robbers who hit and knocked to the ground before stealing the phone and running off.
The boy suffered minor injuries but police say he was shaken by the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.
DS Stuart Dixon, of Burnley CID, said:"The first offender was an Asian male, aged 15, slim, with short gelled hair and was wearing a Helly Hansen coat and dark trousers.
"The second was also of Asian appearance, aged 14, slim and was wearing a white and blue striped top and dark tracksuit trousers."Anyone with information should contact Burnley Police Station on 425001 or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
