New landlords have taken over an East Lancashire pub and aim to continue its top reputation.

Daniel and Gemma Seddon are the new owners of The Crown Hotel, in Albert Road, Colne.

They have taken over from Noel Buckley and Peter Speak who ran the pub for more than two decades.

Daniel, 40, said they will use their combined 35 years in the industry to cement The Crown as a well-loved community pub.

He said: “We enjoy new challenges and we wanted to carry on the traditions of a great pub.

“When we first looked around it was really bustling. You could tell it is a real community pub.”

Their plans for the pub are to introduce great food deals and maintain its community values.

He said: “I want to thank Noel and Peter for creating such a great pub and for what they did for the Crown over their 20 years here.

“We have the same value as the previous owners and we want to carry this on.

“We want to give customers a fair price for food and plan to sell a variety of cask ales that will change often.

“We can’t wait to talk to people and get to know them.”

As well as live music and quiz nights Daniel and Gemma will be introducing themed food nights to the pub.

After speaking to customers, they will be bringing the ‘pensioner’s special’ to the pub but it will now be called the ‘lunchtime special’ and will be open to everyone.

This is a £7.95 two course meal that is available at lunch Tuesday-Friday.

Daniel said: “After speaking to staff and customers we have produced a new menu bringing back lots of the favourites with a few new dishes too.

“It’s all very new and exciting.

“We want to sell good food at a fair price and believe in the importance of good value for money.”

Other food deals include:

  • Tuesday - Burger and pint for £10
  • Wednesday – Two main courses for £15
  • Thursday – Gammon, egg and all the trimmings for £8.90
  • Friday – Steak and all trimmings for £8.90
  • Sunday – Roast dinner, with a choice of two meats, for £9.95

With the worrying energy crisis currently hitting businesses, Daniel said the worry is in “the back of his mind” but he is confident that the business can survive it.

He said: “It isn’t our biggest concern at moment. We believe we can run a great pub and that we can survive it. If we survived covid we can survive this.

“We’ve had such a positive reaction from customers. I think a lot of people are happy that the pub has been taken over again.

“Come down, give us a try because we are really good people… I am sure you will become a return customer.”
