ANOTHER Blackburn town centre property is to be turned into upper floor flats.
The shop unit in 79 to 83 King William Street will now see its two upper stories converted into apartments.
The ground floor of the property in the Northgate Conservation Area will remain as a shop.
Kamran Ahmed of Room Properties in the town's Willow Trees Drive has asked Blackburn with Darwen Council is he could go ahead with the conversion.
It has ruled that the change of use is lawful provided the flats are used by a single person, by people living together as a family, or by not more than six residents living together as a single household.
Mr Ahmed is also required to re-glaze and soundproof the upper storey windows and ensure that none of the ground floor is used as a flat.
Before the decision was made five neighbours were consulted by letter and a site notice was displayed but no comments were received.
The approval is the latest of several such conversions in Blackburn town centre.
The borough council is seeking to promote town centre living to revitalise its retail and commercial hubs in Blackburn and Darwen.
