A Ribble Valley care home has expressed its delight after improving its rating following a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Townfield Care Ribble Valley Care Home, in Smiley Old Brow, Sawley, has been rated as ‘good’ at the latest inspection, which was published earlier this month.

When the site was run by its former operator, and known as Riverside Care Centre, it was rated as ‘requires improvement’.

In 2018, inspectors found two breaches of the regulations in respect of record keeping and the safety of the premises.

However, in four years since this inspection the care home has undergone a period of investment and extensive renovation to improve its services and level of care.

The Care Home is now owned and run by the Townfield Care Group, which has more than 40 years of experience in providing residential dementia care and home care in the Ribble Valley, Hyndburn and Rossendale.

The CQC report included positive comments such as: "People told us they were treated with respect."

"They are kind, respectful and compassionate to her and us," and "I feel comfortable when I go there. It's a lovely room with patio doors that see out to the courtyard."

John Timmins, director of Townfield Care said: "We've put a lot of time and money into renovating and extending our Ribble Valley Care Home, it really is in a beautiful location with an excellent team.

“We were delighted to be inspected by the CQC and awarded an upgrade to good rating, it is a reflection of the hard work of all the team.

“We will continue to make improvements to provide the best service possible for our residents and their families!"

The Townfield Care Group is a family owned company which is committed to achieving the highest standards of care.

The company operates three Residential Care Homes, a Mobility shop and a Home Care Service.
