A DRIVER who was on his way to attend a family wedding is appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage following a crash.

Kieron Bassan was driving his white Nissan Qashqai towards Skipton on Skipton Old Road, between the Black Lane Ends pub and the turning for Long Lane, close to Colne, when he says he saw a tractor and trailer coming towards him.

He said he pulled his car as far onto the verge/banking as he could, but the trailer hit his vehicle, knocking off his door mirror and severely damaging the back quarter of the car, the rear door and bumper.

Mr Bassan says the tractor driver did not stop but he managed to turn the car round and follow and caught up with it when it was forced to stop for another vehicle.

He said he spoke to the driver but was unable to obtain names or details before the tractor set off again and turned off onto a private lane.

Mr Bassan, from Stoke, was on his way to his father's wedding at Rendezvous, in Skipton, on Friday August 12, when the incident occurred at around 4.45pm.

He had his wife in the car along with his step-daughter, 28, who was the wedding photographer, and his five-year-old son.

He was able to make it to the wedding and back home to Stoke, but his insurers have since said his car is not worth the repair bill and will be written-off.

Mr Bassan said since the incident his son is distressed when he has to travel in a car. He said his step-daughter has also suffered from a sore neck and shoulder.

He reported the crash to police as a hit and run which failed to stop and was issued an incident number.

Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed the report and says it is looking into the incident, as is his insurance company, though anyone who saw the crash is asked to come forward.

Mr Bassan added his satnav had taken him on that road, as well as his sister who was travelling separately, but that it was an adequate road with plenty of room for two vehicles to pass and had white lines down the centre.

Anyone who saw the crash or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact 101 with incident number LC2022 0812 1274.
