A man was taken to hospital after falling from a roof, with the police referring themselves to the IOPC.

Officers cordoned off an area around Fishergate, Preston, yesterday evening (Tuesday August 15) following concerns for the welfare of the man.

Unfortunately, the man later fell from the roof and had to be taken to hospital. 

Police were were able to provide immediate medical treatment following the incident, which has now also been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Last night a Preston police spokesperson said: “At 5.19pm today we were called to the concern for welfare of a man on the roof of a building in Fishergate, Preston.

“Sadly, earlier this evening the man fell from the roof.

"Officers on scene were able to provide immediate medical treatment to the man who is in hospital and described as being in a stable condition.

“The scene that was in place has now been removed.

"We have referred the incident to the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct).”
