Fire bosses have warned people who decide to use their car park that they could get blocked in if crews are called out to an emergency.

Bosses at Padiham Fire Station have reminded people of alternative parking in the town, after people decided to use the fire station car park following the closure of a large provision behind Padiham Town Hall.

The car park on Padiham Fire Station is only to be used by crew members, who leave their cars there as they respond to emergencies.

Bosses at the station are now warning people they could, and will in some cases, get blocked in by up to six cars.

The station listed alternative car parks on Sowerby Street, Ribble Street, Burnley Road, Wyre Street and Station Road, stating they are all within five minutes of the town hall, close to amenities and have disabled or parent bays.

Posting on Twitter, a spokesperson for the station said: “The large car park behind Padiham town hall is currently closed off to the public, please note this does not mean our private car park is available for public use.

“Our car park is for fire and rescue staff responding to emergencies

“If you chose to park in our car park we cannot rule out you becoming blocked in by up to six vehicles.

"We do not have time to find alternative parking.”
