Four drivers have been issued with parking tickets despite clear warning signs asking them NOT to park next to solid white lines.

Police issued four parking tickets near Lower Hodder Bridge, Clitheroe, on Monday afternoon after a number of drivers were clocked breaking the highway code.

A bright yellow sign placed at the side of the road stated that 'parking adjacent to a solid white line' was illegal and would result in 'three points and a hefty fine'.

Police said parking in the spot is dangerous as it forces other road users across the solid white lines on a blind bend and into the path of oncoming vehicles.

A spokesperson for the police said on Monday: “I'm really not sure what more we could do to prevent people from receiving points and fines for this offence.

“If you didn't know that this constituted an offence have a quick refresh of the highway code and tell your friends and neighbours.”
