Nineteen drivers will soon receive letters from the police after they were caught speeding on East Lancashire's roads.

The police caught 19 drivers travelling at more than 35mph on a road with a speed limit of 30mph, with one of the drivers was spotted travelling at 50mph.

Officers teamed up with Community Roadwatch Volunteers on Chipping Road, Longridge yesterday (August 15), and spent the afternoon targeting vehicles for traffic related offences after residents raised it as an area of concern.

The police stated any drivers spotted breaking the speed limit would be 'hearing from us in due course'.

Officer Hayes of Ribble Valley Police said: “This afternoon, myself and PCSO 7144 Jarrett teamed up with the Community Roadwatch Volunteers on Chipping Rd, Longridge.

"We spent time here to target vehicles for traffic related offences, with this being raised as an area of concern by Longridge residents.

“The speed limit for this part of the road is 30mph, however 19 vehicles were travelling over 35mph. One vehicle was seen travelling at 50mph.

"They will each be hearing from us in due course.

“We are keen to hear if you have concerns at any other locations in the Ribble Valley.”
