A section of East Lancashire's busiest motorway was closed on Monday evening.
The M65 was shut for several hours due to a ‘police incident', with the carriageways between junction five and junction six blocked from around 11pm as police dealt with a concern for welfare.
Officers say the situation was resolved ‘without incident’ and all carriageways were reopened just after midnight.
A brief statement from the police read: “It was a concern for welfare – all resolved without incident.”
