Two hospital trusts have been shortlisted for annual health awards.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are finalists in this year’s Health Service Journal awards.

East Lancashire Hospitals Trust is up for the Military and Civilian Health Partnership Award category.

Operational director of human resources and organisational development, Kate Quinn said: “We are delighted that our work has been recognised and has been shortlisted for this award.

“We value each individual equally and we often need to tailor the care we provide to meet an individual’s needs. Our veterans, armed forces personnel and their families are a specific part of that."

The Trust recently received the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust has been nominated for the Freedom to Speak Up Award, Innovation and Improvement in Reducing Healthcare Inequalities Award, Mental Health Innovation of the Year, Patient Safety Award, Primary and Community Care Innovation of the Year and Staff Well-being Award.

Chief Executive of the trust, Caroline Donovan, said: “This really is wonderful news - the fact we’ve been shortlisted for six categories in the HSJ Awards 2022 is undoubtedly a huge ‘pat on the back’ for our amazingly hard working and deserving team.

“Our staff always go above and beyond to improve patient outcomes and quality of service and care – and aligning with the HSJ Awards programme really allows us to share our success as well as everything we’ve learnt through implementing our project.”

This year, 1,067 entries were received, with 219 projects and individuals making it to the final shortlist from across 162 organisations.

The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at the Battersea Evolution Centre in London on November 17.
