Electricity North West have issued advice to all customers ahead of three days of high temperatures

An extreme heat weather warning is in place across the country until Sunday, with temperatures set to reach 35 degrees in some parts.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “You’ll be pleased to hear that our network is operating as normal and is designed to be resilient to extreme temperatures, but power cuts can still happen at any time. 

“As an extra bit of help, we have arranged for additional teams to be on standby and additional people to be ready to help you in our contact centre during this period, just in case you need us.”

Electricity North West says updated hints and tips on what to do during a power cut can be found on their website.

Anyone who sees any damage to overhead power lines or other equipment is asked to call 105. People are asked not to approach the area and stay at least five metres away from any equipment for your own safety.

This advice includes covering windows exposed to direct sunlight and off turning off lights and electrical equipment that is not in use.
