A LOCAL authority is asking people to organise summer school holiday community clean-ups.
Blackburn with Darwen Council is offering help to those wishing to take part in a tidy the borough initiative.
A spokesman said: "Now the six week holidays are upon us, why not think about organising a community litter-picking event with your family, friends and neighbours – you could even get the kids involved.
"This would give them a safe outdoor space to enjoy and a chance to learn more about how to look after their local area during the holidays.
"The council can offer plenty of support and equipment for the clean-up.
"All residents need to do is complete an online form about the event.
"People need to provide basic information including location, date, time and contact information.
"The council can assist by providing free tools to borrow, such as spades and rakes; remove the rubbish; and provide safety advice.
"The council requires at least seven days’ notice in advance of the clean-up."
