Police have arrested a man after dozens of vehicle number plates were spray painted.
Last week, dozens of people posted to Facebook group Lancaster Past and Present to say their vehicles has been targeted, with many posting images of their number plates covered in black paint.
The Lancaster neighbourhood police team say the incidents were mainly situated around the Greaves and Bowerham areas of Lancaster but also spread to the West End area of Morecambe.
Police said there was a “graffiti of a similar nature” in Lancaster’s Williamson Park and on road signs where the tag ‘OTM’ was used.
Up to 100 vehicles have been “attacked”, police say.
Following CCTV enquiries and reports from the public, a 47-year-old man has now been arrested.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We realise the annoyance this has caused members of our community and the cost and time implications of incidents like this.
“PC Jones and PCSO Garner from the Lancaster NHP team who investigated the incidents would like to thank the victims for coming forward and for those residents who helped provide valuable CCTV footage which helped identify the suspect.”
