A Blackburn band has been invited to play a gig on a boat in the River Thames.

Medusa, a rock and punk band, will be playing on a 120-capacity party boat on the River Thames on February 13.

The gig will be filmed and will be released as a concert movie.

Medusa, which was formed by former QEGS student Julian Molinero in 1998, has released four albums, recording with the former producer of Nirvana.

Julian said: “It’s going to be a great day and something to remember for everybody who comes.

“We have released four studio albums to date so we thought now was the time to make a live concert video, before we start working on the fifth.

"It's something we have always wanted to do and hopefully it will turn out as something special."

The band, who are now based in London, will play two 50-minute sets, with the second set playing the same songs as the first, in a different order to get different camera angles.

The band has also had a camera crew filming in Blackburn for a documentary showing their history.

The film will include the former site of the Cellar Bar, now King's Hotel on King Street, where the band played its first gig in June 2000, just weeks after the band finished school in the town.

The boat gig will be filmed by a full film crew and it is planned to be released as a concert movie.

The documentary has also had footage filmed of Julian in New York City and Vancouver, Canada, where the band has previously played gigs.

In 2021, the group played on the main stage at the Hard Rock Hell Punk Festival at the O2 Academy, Sheffield.
