A man has been treated for a dog bite after ‘throwing a garden chair’ at a police dog.

Police were called to a number of burglaries and suspicious activity around Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth last night and into the early hours of this morning (August 8).

Officers were out searching for suspects when they spotted four men on Prospect Road in Rawtenstall.

At about 6am, a dog unit detained one of the men, who was from Manchester.

The man allegedly threw a garden chair at the dog cutting the dog’s nose. He later received treatment to his leg for dog bite marks.

Patrols found a £4000 mountain bike but are asking for people to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras to see if they have had any activity overnight.

A spokesperson for the police said: “If you have any footage please call 101 and quote log 0270 of August 8.”
