A Burnley-born wrestler has taken home a bronze medal for England in the Commonwealth Games.

Georgina Nelthorpe won wrestling bronze for the second games in a row, beating Sierra Leone's Madusu Koroma in just 23 seconds.

The 25-year-old was also a bronze medal holder at the 2018 games.

She pinned down both of Madusa's shoulders for an automatic win in the women's 76kg freestyle event.

Nelthorpe started her day at Coventry Arena with a comfortable win over Mauritius' Marie Vilbrun in the quarter-finals but met her match in the semi-finals as Nigeria's Hannah Rueben came out on top.

Georgina fell in love with wrestling while living in Canada for nine years, encouraged by her school teachers.

The Nelthorpe family moved back to her home nation in 2016 and she began grappling at clubs in the north-west, igniting her dream of representing her country.
