A £30k mini-digger which was stolen overnight has been found by police.

The Doosan mini-digger was stolen overnight from Roman Road in Darwen but has been recovered in Burnley.

Officers returned it to the owner and enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders.

A spokesperson for the police said: “Officers from the Ribble Valley Rural Task Force have today been investigating the overnight theft of a £30,000 Doosan DX27Z Mini-Digger from the Roman Road area of Darwen and through tracker activations have successfully recovered the stolen machine in the Burnley area earlier this morning.

"The mini-digger has now been returned to its rightful and relieved owner and enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders for the theft.

"We continue to take a tenacious approach to tackling plant theft, reuniting stolen plant with their owners and bringing offenders to justice."
