A Lancashire man, who once weighed more than 36 stone and has managed to lose half his body weight, has been sharing weight loss tips on his TikTok account.

Neil Scurrah, from Blackpool, has shared his favourite low calorie Aldi items and revealed how he has managed to shed the pounds without giving up his go-to treats.

Neil, 41, says it took three years and nine months to lose around 250 pounds.

According to Neil, there are some key items to have in your fridge if you want a lower calorie choice without compromising on having treats.

In a TikTok video, which he created for 167,000 TikTok followers, he encouraged people to pick certain Aldi pizzas, including San Carlo's BBQ chicken flavour which is 600 calories.

This video has now amassed more than 337,000 views with people eager to add it to their baskets.

He has also created content about the Aldi sweet treats that are less than 100 calories and include Wacko bars, Tea Cakes, Jammy Wheels, Wafer Bars and more.

Neil achieved fame on the app by showing viewers how many calories certain food items contain, some of which might surprise you, and for criticising the weight loss rules at Slimming World.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Neil said: “It's not all about being super healthy though there has to be some balance with foods we love to eat.

“The fresh San Carlo's BBQ chicken pizza is a must at under 600 calories.

"A five per cent fat burger, low-fat cheese slice and brioche bun give you a quarter pounder cheese burger for 320 calories.

“Aldi’s Titan ice creams feel really indulgent but they are only 140 calories.”

According to Neil, the best way to lose weight is to “ditch fad diets”.

He said: “Ditch the crazy fad diets and implement healthy long-lasting habits that not only cause you to lose weight but will teach you to maintain that loss when you get to your goal.

“Slow and steady will always win the successful weight loss race.”

Neil, who is a full-time online weight loss coach and personal trainer, said he has suffered with his weight problems throughout his life.

He said: “I had suffered from being obese all my life and after finally conquering my own weight issues I knew that I wanted to help others so went to night school to become a personal trainer.

“I started TikTok in lockdown in January 2021.

“For a full-time personal trainer to go into a third lockdown in less than 12 months was a devastating blow and my girlfriend suggested doing some weight loss TikTok content to keep my mind occupied.

“The engagement I got was amazing and in a few months, I launched my online weight loss coaching platform.”
