BLACKBURN with Darwen borough and Lancashire have new NHS directors.

They have been appointed as part of a health and social care shake-up.

They area among four new directors at the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, each of whom will be responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of residents within their local place areas.

The new directors were appointed by the board and executive team of in collaboration with the four upper tier local authorities; Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Cumbria and Lancashire.

They are: Claire Richardson – Blackburn with Darwen; Karen Smith – Blackpool; Jane Scattergood – South Cumbria; and Louise Taylor – Lancashire

Kevin Lavery, chief executive for NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB said: “I am excited to welcome Karen, Claire, Jane and Louise into these exciting new roles which are fundamental to the deeper integration of health and care."

Denise Park, Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “Claire is perfectly placed to make sure progress is fast and effective as we look forward now.
