Officers from Lancashire Police attended and found Brandon in the park; by which time the 26-year-old had sadly already died when they arrived at about 6.45am.

Detective Inspector Iain Czapowski, the investigating officer, was called by colleagues at 7.45am and attended the park, before going to Brandon’s home in Bank Street, Darwen.

At his home, they also found a number of notes which suggested an intention to take his own life.

The police determined there had been no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

His medical cause of death was found to be hanging. At the end of the hearing, Coroner Richard Taylor returned a conclusion of suicide.

He said: “Brandon Cain Matthews died on March 28, 2022, at Bold Venture Park, Darwen.”
