EAST Lancashire's under-19s can travel across the North-West for just £1 the weekend after next- provided the go with a grandparent.

The offer from regional operator Transdev - which runs the Blackburn and Burnley bus companies - applies to services on Saturday August 13 and Sunday August 14.

Its 'Go with Granny on the Bus' cut-price offer is aimed at helping families beat the cost-of-living crisis this summer.

It gives young people under 19 the chance to go anywhere on the firm's network of routes spanning Lancashire and Greater Manchester, plus into Yorkshire, for a whole day for just £1 – as long as they Go with Granny (or Grandad!)

It links into the existing free travel passes for pensioners.

Transdev chief executive Alex Hornby said: “We know everyone is trying to keep their spending down this summer, especially with energy bills due to rise again in October.

“At the same time, the school holidays often see grans – and grandads too - looking after the grandchildren while mum and dad are at work, and we don’t see why they should have to stay at home.

“By offering young people the chance to 'Go with Granny on the Bus', we want to help bridge the generation gap and make sure everyone has the chance to enjoy an amazing two days filled with magical memories.”

Under 19s can buy a go-anywhere day ticket for Transdev’s entire network for just £1 from the driver on August 13 and 14, when they travel with their gran or grandad using a concessionary pass to make the same journeys.
