An uninsured driver who was stopped over 300 miles away from home has been disqualified from driving.
Court documents show that Zahiu Velcu was dealt with by officers when he was stopped in a car on Willingdon Drive in Eastbourne – almost a six-hour drive away from his home in Blackburn.
Velcu, of Vale Street, was disqualified from driving for six months during a hearing at Crawley Magistrates' Court, with Magistrates revoking his licence due to like repeat offending.
The 30-year-old was found guilty of the offence of driving without insurance and was consequently fined £660.
He must also contribute £66 to fund victim services and pay £90 towards court costs.
A collection order was made with the full amount due by August 15.
