The East Lancashire Railway is gearing up for a busy summer and has announced exciting news that Peppa Pig fans will love.

For the first time ever, Peppa Pig and family will be visiting the railway on Thursday August 25 and Friday August 26.

The fun day out will start with a meet and greet at Bury Transport Museum.

Guests can then complete Peppa’s activity trail and continue the day with a fun fair, expert balloon modellers, face painters, and even meet farmyard friends at the petting zoo.

The day out is complete with a ride through the Irwell Valley on a real heritage steam or diesel train, all included in the price of the ticket.

Parents can also choose from a wider selection of fun-filled days out to keep little ones entertained over the summer holidays, including a journey with everyone’s favourite blue engine.

Taking place on Saturday August 6 and Sunday August 7, A Day Out with Thomas will begin with meeting Sir Topham Hatt at the station before climbing aboard a carriage to ride behind Thomas.

A journey to Ramsbottom will then take families through the countryside before returning to Bury Station.

As well as A Day Out With Thomas, the spellbinding Wizarding Adventure is an interactive treat for all aspiring witches and wizards.

The activity gives budding magicians the chance to gather and enjoy mastering wand waving, improving their broomstick skills and defeating evil forces.

Alongside the wizard themed activities and photo opportunities, guests will head off on a two-hour train experience with the region's best enchanters.

The next Wizarding Adventure of the year will take place on today (Sunday July 31).

Just across the road from East Lancashire Railway's Bury Station, the industrial heritage of the North West is brought to life at Bury Transport Museum.

The attraction is located in the restored Castlecroft Goods Warehouse and will take visitors back through the 20th Century, recreating what life was like with hands-on exhibits and full size vehicles.

A new hero exhibition has just arrived at the museum, and for the first time ever visitors can see the iconic Union of South Africa locomotive up close on static display.
